Cyclops - Master Tapes

Published by admin under Cyclops

THEY’RE HERE!!

I just got back from Saxon Recording Studios with our restored master tapes. Dave Anderson at Saxon is awesome. He was singing Ride My Coattails when I arrived. Dave went above and beyond in meticulously bringing every track back to life. Here is the list of songs we have:

Whispers
Right Now
Never Thought
Lonely Doggs
Preacher
Ride My Coattails
Serena
Talk of the Archways

Saxon Recording

Saxon Recording StudiosI had a hard time pulling myself away from this studio. Vintage Guitars, Vintage Mics, Vintage Tube Amps - I was in my glory (Rumor has it that Dave heats the studio entirely on Vacuum Tubes). This brought me back to when we recorded the original “Whispers” session with the late great Johnny Leone at Studio 21 - NYC. That was the National Lampoon Studio. I remember we had to wait for our session because they were mixing a scene from a new moving they were making. “You can’t take the car - Fred wrote the mileage down.” Over & Over & Over . . . The movie was eventually released. It was called Animal . . .something I think ;-) . Anyway - Thanks again Dave for raising Cyclops from the dead. JJW

PTSD - We Lost Our Minds on This One

Published by admin under Not Dead Yet

Mark recorded the remaining guitar parts to PTSD tonight. Somewhere around 8:30 PM we took a hard left turn on the ending. This is really bizarre. The results are posted under NDY Music. Listen at your own risk! JJW

PTSD rough mix

Published by admin under Not Dead Yet

We recorded the drums and rhythm tracks for PTSD on Sunday.  The first rough mix is posted under NDY Songs.  This is somewhat different and shorter than what we came up with the other night.   Some mistakes and timing issues but we can fix that.   The ending drum part was put in so we can fade with drums (very cool Geoff).   We got a little carried away and jammed it out for eons.  We can cut that later but i kept it in the rough mix.

Matt, see if the lyrics you have work with this.  Definitely not a standard verse/chorus.   More like Part A, Part B, Part C.  Mark, let me know what you think on the guitar transitions.  I am leaving Wednesday open to record your guitar an perhaps vocals if you’re available Matt.  Cheers - JJW

It’s Alive!

Published by admin under Odds & Ends

Welcome to Giraph Bands. Giraph Bands is not a band exactly. It’s a collection of music, pictures and stories from the greatest bunch of musicians and friends I’ve had the pleasure of playing with over the years. Expect some very interesting things in the coming months including the release of the latest Cyclops Album.
